The bag type of dust collector uses a bag or sock that is supported externally which are hung by clips of supported by an inner cage to allow the maximum exposure to the filter bags area for efficient dust removal. Here the flow is into the outside of the bag similar to the cartridge type filter.
Dust is collected on the inside of the bags and these are usually housed in an enclosure for controlling and maintaining the necessary air flow form with vacuum or pressurized source. Bag dust collectors can range from a few square foot of bag area to very large bag-house with several thousand SF of collector area.
Cleaning of duct collector bags are usually by reverse compressed air through a venturi that causes the bags to shake out the dust and fall off the bag.
